Fascinating topic! Forgery and counterfeiting to me sounds like more work and trouble than just working at a job for a living. These people really must be addicted to the game.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely an important area in which to be informed! Forgers are getting more sophisticated, equipped with better tools and the Internet, as well as the too-rapidly advancing field of Artificial Intelligence. I fell victim to a counterfeit scheme from China (oh, surprise) concerning a mat designed for cats' play which I found through an ad on Facebook. I ended up refusing to pay for the thing because it was fraud, and I found the real thing and corresponded with the manufacturer, who complained bitterly of how the Chinese fraud was hurting his business. Lesson learned: don't respond to Facebook ads, but research the product to find the true source of the legitimate product. My daughter worked in banking, with many years on the teller line, and she has a goodly stock of stories about counterfeit currency. Again I say, you are doing a public service here. Thank you for fascinating and intriguing posts.
